You really need
to download the HEAD release if you're working with meshes, as this is
a relatively new feature.

I'd prefer not to work from pre-release versions that keep changing. How
often is HEAD updated? Without a version I can't tell.

If you recommend the HEAD then can we expect an update to 3.5.1 or 3.6
soon?

As discussed in earlier postings, the HEAD release is a much better, more solid starting point than the official release at this point. We really need to make a proper 3.6 release, but I've been waiting for Georg Mischler to get settled with his many ANSI and Windows improvements to the source tree. Following that, we should have a period of testing, where we encourage people to download and compile the latest HEAD, and during which time we fix only compile problems and bugs that are found before making an official release. This would hopefully be more solid than the scantily-tested 3.5 official release of last year.

Schorsch, what does your schedule look like?
