*.tif to *.pic?

Hello All,

I am almost certain, I am asking for impossible .. but time is crucial and
I will give it a shot.

I accidentally overwrote my pic files (but have the tif files for the same
that I converted) and wondering if it is possible to quickly retrieve pic
from the tif files.

Please let me know,

Thanks,

Shri

Shri,

I understand that the "ra_tiff" has an "-r" command to reverse the
conversion.... I have no idea if you will get the original image (I think
that the conversion from HDR to LDR loses some information), but it might
be useful for you.

Bye!

Germán

It also probably depends on what options you used to generate the TIFF files. The -z, -L, -l, -f, and -w options each create different TIFF file types.

Thanks Germán,

Yes, I have tried that already, and it doesn't have the same information.
My final intent is to compile two pic images to show illuminance contours
on a scene - and that didn't work.

Shrikar

Depending on how you created the *.pic files you may still have some *.unf
files, which are unfiltered versions of the *.pic files. Have you checked
that?

Thanks Chris and Thomas,

This was my command to create pic file.

rpict -vtv -vp 0.1 7.3 1.8 -vd 1 0 0 -vu 0 0 1 -vh 130 -vv 90 -x 3000 -y
1400 -ab 4 -aa 0.08 -ar 512 -ad 2048 -as 512 -ds .01 -dj .6 -t 60 sunny.oct

lookeast_march21_noon.pic

And

ra_tiff lookeast_march21_noon.pic lookeast_march21_noon.tif

to create tiff files.

So, no *.unf files.
