Seeking Advice on Vignetting Correction

Hello everyone,

I understand that vignetting correction is important. However, I am not familiar with the vignetting function and do not have the necessary instruments to determine it. Currently, I am using a Nikon Z5 to capture LDR images, which offers a “Vignette Control” feature to help mitigate vignetting effects.
Additionally, a master’s thesis titled “On The Development and Error Analysis of a High Dynamic Range Imaging System for Luminance Measurements” reports that the maximum loss due to vignetting is only 0.9% when using an aperture as small as F/14 (Graduate Thesis Or Dissertation | On the Development and Error Analysis of a High Dynamic Range Imaging System for Luminance Measurements | ID: hd76s042c | CU Scholar).
Given this information, is it acceptable to skip vignetting correction if I use an aperture of F/14 and enable the Vignette Control feature? My primary goal is to evaluate vertical illuminance and DGP.
By the way, this thesis also mentioned that the hdrscope provides the Vignetting Correction Function.

Thank you for your advice in advance !

Warm regards,
Joe
