Search Radiance-Online archives

Hello,

What is the best way to search the Radiance Online archives?

I am trying to find the obj/misc directory of my newly-installed NREL Radiance download on my Mac to run the "% rad -o x11 daf.rif" as the ReadMe.pdf file suggests. (I'm also trying to find the "ray" directory and the "rad" command, but that is secondary.)

Thank you,

Hi Jill,

A couple of ways to search the archives. One is to just rely on Google, but
a better way is to browse the archives here:

http://www.radiance-online.org/community/mailing-lists/archives/radiance-general

The best way is usually to search the archives here:

http://www.radiance-online.org/community/mailing-lists/search-1

...but this doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Boo.

Now then, your specific question: the so-called NREL Radiance binaries do
not include the obj directory because they are not part of the program,
they are just "auxiliary" files. You can get them by downloading this
archive:

http://www.radiance-online.org/software/non-cvs/rad4R1supp.tar.gz

...and unpacking the archive like so:

tar -xzf rad4R1supp.tar.gz

Once you have those, you'll also wanna make sure you have X11 installed. I
like XQuartz for that, which you can get here:

http://xquartz.macosforge.org/downloads/SL/XQuartz-2.7.5.dmg

Then you should be able to run that example scene you're trying to do. I
would recommend looking at some of the other tutorials on the
radiance-online site, though.
