/ Re: building radzilla 1.0; brad

forwarded message from Patrick:

Hi,

I shall be grateful if you could you help with 2 queries

1. I am attempting to build Radzilla and the QT interface and am having problems. These problems may be in part or wholly with the Terminal tcsh setup
Have is the Terminal log and radzilla directory tree:
[PowerBook:/Applications/radzilla] patrickh% makeall RADZILLA
makeall RADZILLA
tcsh: makeall: Command not found.

2. About 'brad', the Blender rad export plugin, have you install~run this successfully?
I have installed as instructed but the plug-in is not visible in the menu and nor are virtually all of the standard python plug-ins after its installation.
Have enqiured at the eLYsiun forum ( no solution ) and with "Brad" but no reply as yet.

Using OS X 10.3.9 + python 2.3

Hi Patrick,

your message seems to have been blocked by the mailing list engine because of it's size, so I'm forwarding it to the list now (without the attachments, generally it is advisable to avoid sending attachments to the mailing list.)

If you're in the root directory of the radzilla installation (i.e the dir in which also the makeall resides) try to type
./makeall RADZILLA
to make sure the shell finds the path.

BTW, AFAIK there are some unresolved issues with the commandline radzilla - rzvu on MACs (it compiles but doesn't run, in contrast to the Linux case), I have no access to a MAC here so I still need to find an opportunity to check this. And I never heard so far of any attempt to compile the QT stuff on MACs. Theoretically, it should work, as QT is available for every platform, but there is always the difference between theory and paractice..

unfortunately, I'm not yet familiar with Blender, but maybe Francesco may be able to help you with this..

Hi Patrick,

its installation.

I haven't fixed brad yet (just lazy) for the menu problem with the
latest versions of blender, but you should be able to start it placing
brad.py and the brad folder into the .blender/scripts folder and
loading brad.py into the blender text window, starting the embedded
python interpreter with Alt+P.
If it still doesn't work or crashes right after starting, try to change
the brad_path variable to where the brad.py file and directory are,
like ~/.blender/scripts in my installation.

Hope this works for you,

Francesco

NB if placing it in ./blender/scripts causes any problem, like
disappearing
plugins, move it out of that folder and set the brad_path variable
accordingly.
Sorry for the mess =8-(
Ciao, F.
