Radiance Workshop 2025, EPFL Lausanne

Hi Everyone!

Great news—we didn’t receive any objections to the proposed workshop 2025 dates, so we’ve now finalized them: August 27-29! We’re excited to announce that the LIPID lab at EPFL will be hosting this year’s workshop on the EPFL campus in Lausanne.

This year, we’re combining the Radiance Workshop (August 27-28) with an HDR Workshop & Tutorial (Friday, August 29).

So you can start planning (and thinking about possible contributions), here are the key details:

Wednesday & Thursday, August 27-28 – Radiance Workshop

  • Attendee presentations – any Radiance-related topics are welcome!

Friday, August 29 – HDR Workshop & Tutorial

Morning:

  • 2 invited presentations
  • 5-6 attendee presentations – all HDR-imaging-related topics are welcome!

Afternoon:

  • 2-3 tutorial presentations
  • Measurement & evaluation session – we’ll set up a calibrated reference high-contrast light source, allowing attendees to bring their own HDR cameras and test/evaluate their image processing workflows with expert guidance.

Venue: EPFL Campus, Lausanne

We’re lucky to host this on campus, which means we can offer attractive registration prices (despite Switzerland’s reputation for being expensive!). We’ll announce these as soon as the website is live.

Lausanne is a fantastic place to visit in late August! The EPFL campus is just a 10-minute walk from Lake Geneva, which is perfect for a refreshing swim. The weather is typically warm and pleasant at that time oft he year—not too hot.

Plus, the lake is surrounded by breathtaking mountains, offering all kinds of outdoor activities. Whether you’re into sightseeing, hiking, climbing, or even paragliding, there’s something for everyone!

Registration & Accommodation

We’re finalizing some details and the budget, but registration should open in early April. We’ll also provide accommodation suggestions.

Hello everyone,

The Radiance-workshop in Lausanne is shaping - I’m happy to announce that the submission is now open!
I prepared a web-site for the workshop, where you can find all details :

Thanks to the initiative of Peter Apian-Bennewitz, we’re pleased to announce a material modelling session on the second day of the workshop. Peter will start the session with an overview of the topic, and we would be delighted to include your contributions on that topic in the same session.

As previously mentioned, the third day of the workshop will be dedicated to HDR imaging, and we’re planning to have some slots for your presentations, besides the invited speakers. You’re warmly invited to submit a proposal for this as well.

The schedule for both workshops will be updated after we received your proposals for presentations!

The registration with payment will open in few days as we still need to figure out small details with our administration, but the fees are fixed now and visible on the website.
Regarding Hotels: We recommend to book rather soon to find a convenient place for a reasonable price as Lausanne is a quite popular destination in summer!
Closest to EPFL is the Starling hotel, but quite pricy. A hotel with reasonable rate is the Zleep hotel, which is 3 metro-stops away from EPFL. If you prefer staying in the city, there a several options as well. Typically all hotels offer the Lausanne transport card which allows you to use the public transport for free while you stay in the hotel.
We would appreciate to receive the proposals for presentations as soon as possible so that we can better plan (and attract more people to attend).

Yes — your hotel (and Peter’s) is booked. Sorry for not notifying you earlier. I think our assistant Yvonne has booked the Starling hotel - she will confirm the booking soon.
