is there a place to find some samples or examples ?
I'm looking for a simple residential home maybe a couple
trees in the yard, and then create a picture with the
sun on a particular date. Eventually a time compressed
movie of the sun over a year.

Hi Pete!
Did you take a look at the example scenes coming with radiance? They are
located in the obj-directory if you downloaded the sources (are they in
the binaries?). There are also scenes in the ftp-directories which you
can find on radsite.lbl.gov.
If you want something REALLY simple, either go through the manual that
comes with radiance or set up a room in your favorite modeler.
