Hi,

My scene description is a Perez sky with sun and diffuse sky.

oconv perez.sky > octree; mksource octree > radfile

The radfile is empty - what am I missing?

Mksource only replaces bright glow contributions, not broad area sources like the sky. It would have replaced the sun in your model, but it's already a source, so it isn't necessary. The output of mksource is designed as an adjunct to a distant glow source description, not a replacement.
