DAysim_warning message

Hello,
I get from the Daysim DGP simulation this consistent warning:
file coeff_perez.dat cannot be opened lect_coeff_perez does not work gendaylit call failed at time:.... ...

Could you ,please, tell me, where to look for the problem and how can I solve the issue so I can rely on the SIM result? Kind Regards, Niya

   Hi Niya,

this is a warning and no error! This can't be a cause for a problem - except this is your only surface in your scene, because it has no area!!!

There must be another problem.

Are you sure daysim is the right tool? daysim is not meant to make visualizations, but annual simulations to calculate illuminance/luminance/irradiance at certain sensor points! I would rather use rpict or rvu with -av option to "visualize points". have you tried this? Is this what you want to do?

For linux/bash I have a small script generating a geometry out of sensor points for a visual check, if the points are correctly located. But I haven't ported that to windows.

good luck!

     Hello,

I am experiencing a consistent error message that I could not overcome.

After the attempt to run simulation in Daysim 3.1

    there`s the error message:

    c:/daysim/bin_windows/oconv: warning-zero area for polygon "zone01.rad00013"

Further on it draws the problem to "raypath c:\daysim\lib`.

stil I haveve added the Radiance\bin\. and Daysim\bin\. and Radiance\lib\., Daysim\lib\. to the environmental variables in Raypath and Path manually(working on Windows7)

I am analysing orbitrory sensor points that Ive generated with a script from ecotect(zero polygon area I suppose describes that)

How do you read such message to proceed completing a visualization?

    Kind Regards,

    Niya

it seems you are using an old version of gendaylit (the new version don t need these files any more). Maybe this old version is still part of the daysim package. You should replace it by the new version from the radiance distribution.
I also assume you have a path problem. Are you sure you set the RAYPATH variable correct? In the /lib directory you should find the missing files, but then the old version of gendaylit should work.

I am using Daysim 3.1 since Ecotect needs an older GUI.
now I want to stick to the pipeline Ecotect#Radiance#Daysim3.1 as far as possible. Not aqainted with other workflows on daylighting. For this reason i would not like to take the newer version of Daysim. Raypath is set as follow
    working on Windows7 professional
    System Variables BIN_PATH -

C:\RADIANCE\bin;C:\Daysim\bin PATH -

C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Parallels Tools\Applications;.....;\\....\Downloads\#_00_name\#_01_test\dxf2rad09win;C:\Radiance\bin;$PATH
RAYPATH

···

-

.;C:\Radiance\lib\.;C:\Daysim\lib.

User Variables
BIN_PATH -

C:\Daysim\bin_windows\;C:\Radiance\bin\;C:\DAYSIM PATH -

C:\Daysim\bin_windows\;C:\Radiance\bin\;C:\DAYSIM RAYPATH -

.;C:\Daysim\lib\.;C:\Radiance\lib\.;C:\Daysim\lib\.;C:\Radiance\lib\.;C:\Radiance\bin\
note: the dots are not in the path, ive included since thats too much odd info, i think I appreciate any advice that can bring me further.
    Kind Regards, Niya
