Hi there,

Any chance I could also get either a linux version of Daysim, or an set of install instructions? I’ve tried following this and I did get some success in compiling Daysim, but I ran into some problems later down the line. Thought I might as well ask whether there’s a more ¨official¨ build I could count on.

Thanks in advance
Pedro

Hi @pmattenet,

Welcome to the Radiance discourse. I created the repository you linked to, and the bad news I have for you is that Daysim is not actively maintained. As far as I know, there was never an “official” Linux build, nor will there ever be. You are welcome to try compiling the source code that is publicly available, and it’s possible that someone who has done so on Linux previously might share their compiled code with you.

If you are looking to incorporate Daysim-like calculations into your workflow or product, might I suggest using the 2-phase DDS method, or one of the other multi-phase techniques, all of which use the actively maintained Radiance programs.

Hi @Nathaniel_Jones. I had had some issues before I posted this, where I was able to create a working version, although it then ran into issues while creating daylight coefficient (dc) files. I couldn’t really figure out where I was going wrong so as a last attempt, I thought I might as well ask for a compiled daysim version.
Anyways, I appreciate the response. I had more luck compiling a working daysim in MacOs specifically, for whatever reason. So I’ll be heading in that direction.
