Accuracy of gensky -R

Hi,

is there a specific reason why gensky -R has a limited accuracy? When calling:

gensky -ang 7.305222390857161 -81.06580748686548 -R 1000 -B 0

the same result is produced as with:

gensky -ang 7.305222390857161 -81.06580748686548 -R 996-B 0

In both cases the result is:

void light solar
0
0
3 1.31e+08 1.31e+08 1.31e+08

solar source sun
0
0
4 0.979849 -0.154039 0.127155 0.5

Greetings Philip

No, there is no good reason why the precision is limited to 1% in gensky. I just checked in a version that puts 3 decimal places (rather than 2) in the output. I don’t expect any daylight values are known even to 1% accuracy, but it seems unnecessary to limit ourselves in that way.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Best,
-Greg
