All (but most likely Greg),
Has there been any change to the rtrace behaviour between 5.1a and 5.2a that I may have missed? The following vwrays command to generate a picture using the rtrace -n option works fine in v5.1a (and quite a few versions earlier I expect), but bombs out in 5.2a with the error message "rtrace: internal - could not empty queue in ray_fifo_flush()". Here's the command:
vwrays -ff -vf $vf -x $xdim -y $ydim | rtrace `vwrays -d -vf "$vf" -x "$xdim" -y "$ydim"` -ffc -i -n $ncpu -w -af amb.af $paramb scene.oct > out.hdr
$paramb is just the usual bunch of ambient parameters, with a couple of direct ones also: -ad 4096 -ab 5 -ar 512 -as 512 -aa 0.15 -av 0 0 0 -dr 2 -dc 1
The command chunders away for a while soaking the CPUs and generating a sizeable (a few Mb) ambient file before giving up the ghost, leaving the output containing nothing more than a header.
Such hacks may now be obsolete given the emergence of the rtpict script (which I haven't yet tried). Though the rtpict script looks like it is doing something very similar.
PS. I thought I should at least submit one post where I make no mention whatsoever of the 2018 International Radiance Workshop which we're hosting in ... Oooops.
