Motivation: display sample images on Web sites in JPEG
and PNG format. In particular, most browsers by now
support PNG but don't support TIFF, which seems to be
receeding into the obscurity.
I don't know what people on UNIX systems do (I see
command like "TIFF | cjpeg" in Radiance book) but I
can't see anything in existing code for pic->jpeg on
I also started work on decoder for PNG that shows
promise to work on Win32 (I follow the rules for image
decoder writing) but it would be nice if somebody with
access to UNIX/Linux would later check that code
compiles on those platforms.
Or am I just wasting time and there is code for JPEG
and PNG already available somewhere?
