Dear all,

Has anybody got any pointers on modelling Sunpipes or light tubes?

I'm guessing the approach may involve separating the problem in to two domains: The pipe itself with a high level of ambient bounce and then the diffuser/ room setup.

Hi Chris!

Typical light pipes are made of highly specular surfaces, thus the ambient bounces is not the most critical. The questions are

- rectangular or round section
- only specular or specular plus diffuse
- sunny or overcast / cloudy sky

Have a look at the photon map if you need a very general approach.
