Hello everyone,
I have got Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad CPU and realized that I need to get
all my cores working. So I have developed some shell scripts and I can
upload them for you if someone is interested. In fact they are the
multithreaded wrappers to rtrace and rpict.
The benchmarking results I've got is very promising. The CPU load was
about 99.8%!
Best regards,
Ilya

Well, I am curious if you really managed to write multithreading scripts, or if you are using multiple shared memory processes
Anyway, it would be interesting to see them for curiousity. Are you aware that rpiece can help you distributing rendering of one single picture, and you can (mis)use ranimate to distribute renderings of pictures from a view file? These tools already offer a lot, not only generic process control (no matter if you are on smp, a cluster or a single cpu), but also error recovery.
CU Lars.
I've uploaded them to

Please take a look and feel free to report any bugs, issues, etc.
Best Regards,
Ilya
