gendaymtx '-5' option not working

Dear All,

I am trying to generate a '-5' sky vector from a weather file that contains
just:

place SANTIAGO_CHL
latitude -33.38
longitude 70.78
time_zone 60
site_elevation 476.0
weather_data_file_units 1
1 1 9.5 756 189

I am using the command:

g*endaymtx -h -5 0.533 -m 1 Santiago.wea > test*

but I am getting the exact same sky vector as without the '-5' option (i.e.
full sky). Any hints on this? I am trying to implement the 5 phases...

Thanks in advance,

Germán

Dear German,

you need the "-5" option for the last step of the 5-Phase calculation, i.e.
the detailed sun description. For that you need to use it together with the
"-d" option and you need to take a higher sky subdivision with -m 6.

The command should look like:

gendaymtx -5 0.533 -d -m 6 Santiago.wea

Best,
David

Oh! I thought the -5 was enough, did not know i had to add also -d. Thanks
very much.

Is it possible to use other MFs rather than 6? I know the higher the
better... I am thinking on warnings for Groundhog

I think it should also work if you use other (lower) MFs, but you need to
take care that with less sun positions the benefits of an accurate direct
sun calculation get lost...
