error message

hi there
i've been using radiance on a debian linux laptop with no probs for a bit, but i've also now got it going on my desktop - using cygwin under windows.
it seems to work fine, and does the rendering very well - but it always seems to produce an error message, heres what it says:

$ rad bt_quick.rif
         oconv bt.mat bt.rad light_2.rad > bt_quick.oct
         rpict -vu 0 1 0 -vtv -vp -285.859 4340.82 1610.38 -vd 0.996043 -0.0173828 -0.0871583 -vu 0.0871432 -0.00151368 0.996195 -vh 40 -vv 40 -vs 0 -vl 0 -vo 338.349 -x 200 -y 200 -ps 8 -pt .16 -dp 128 -ar 16 -ds 0 -dt .2 -dc .25 -dr 0 -sj 0 -st .5 -aa .3 -ad 256 -as 0 -av 0.05 0.05 0.05 -lr 6 -lw .01 -av 0 0 0 -ad 200 -ab 3 bt_quick.oct > bt_quick_1.unf
         pfilt -1 -e 10 bt_quick_1.unf > bt_quick_1.pic
         rm -f bt_quick_1.unf
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

does any one have any idea what this segmentation fault is? it also makes a file rad.exe.stackdump,
which has the contents:

Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION at eip=30203020
eax=00000000 ebx=2D203620 ecx=00000001 edx=00000000 esi=2E20776C edi=2D203130

Stack trace:

thanks

Hi Will,

You may have run out of stack space or some related problem in Cygwin, but I'm afraid neither the error nor the stack trace provide any clues as to what's going on. Cygwin is far from reliable in its ability to run long, complicated processes. (Polite way of saying the system is buggy.) I've had lots of problem reports on this, but there's nothing whatever I can do about it.
