error combining rtcontrib patches

Hi,

I'm getting an error while running Axel's apply_tregsamp.bash script, I think it's happening in the pcomb process.

log10: range error
179/179*10^
                     ^ unexpected character

(The caret points to the caret after the 10 in the terminal output, in case it doesn't appear that way in your email reader).

I'm using MF=2 and reinhart.cal on OSX. Any hints?

Thanks,

John Ford.

Hi John,

Can you send the full command? It doesn't look like the error comes from apply_tregsamp.bash but instead something around it on the command line.

Also, dctimestep can replace the pcomb and apply_tregsamp step in Axel's tutorial. It's much faster and simpler. The command would look something like this:
  dctimestep images/patches/p%03d.hdr tmp/skydist.dat > images/combined_skyvec.hdr

Yep, dctimestep is basically the "thing" that "someone" needed to create six years ago when rtcontrib first showed up on the scene. (Thanks Greg!)

Andy,

That worked, after downloading the latest dctimestep from radiance-online.org. And much quicker. The man page doesn't explain the two argument option. I was thoroughly confused by dctimestep last time I looked at it. This explains it: http://www.jaloxa.eu/mirrors/radiance_workshops/2010/PDF/RadianceImprovements.pdf

Thanks,

John.
